Message from the Project Co-ordinator

I left many homeless children in the streets of South America with a promise that I would get their SOS songs out. I left them with a rosary and promised them that if they continued to pray, help would come. For some of them, that help will arrive too late but the responsibility for the delay is mine alone. Their SOS songs should have been sent out well before they were sent and that's why they were ultimately sent with urgency: unfinished, unprofessional, raw but going out, regardless, in the hope that their messages would be heard. They are a message to children worldwide; to those for whom the SOS messages are sent; and to all who seek a world at peace: they are a message from the children of one millennium to those of the new millennium and beyond.

These are voices still struggling to be heard; the voices of children carrying the messages of their unseen brothers and sisters, many of whom will not see another Christmas. Let them know that their message has been heard. For those beyond help, let their passing not in vain. Let their message be heard.

From the most humble of beginnings, with children of the streets of Brazil trying to help the starving children of Africa, a movement that has already stretched to many countries (Brazil, Australia, England, Fiji, New Zealand, USA, Hong Kong and the Philippines) and perhaps will touch all mankind. Many people have said that it will be impossible for this project to come to fruition in the form perceived. Perhaps they're right but I don't believe so. I believe the movement of the children is so powerful that it will change the face of the new millennium.

I believe that children of more affluent nations will form bonds with children of the third world; that they'll find brothers and sisters abroad and continue to grow with them, as an extended family. If children are encouraged to maintain such contact,  one day there will be far greater understanding among nations, stronger cultural links, less poverty and less likelihood of war. We will move toward being a world at peace.
